Are Property Management Fees Tax Deductible?
According to Topic No. 414 Rental Income and Expenses (found here: https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc414), the short answer is Yes.
Of course, always check with your tax professional for the latest legal advice on this. But in general, rental property management fees are considered operating expenses and are therefore deductible.
Other typical deductions for rental property owners include mortgage interest, repairs and maintenance, property taxes, insurance, and utility bills.
If you own rental property, make sure to keep good records of all your expenses throughout the year so you can take advantage of these deductions come tax time.
If you have a Professional Property Manager, they should send you a Year End Statement detailing these for you.
